In 2005 I came to Denmark to a traditional Tibetan home with holy objects like statues, Thangkas, Dharma texts, photos of Lamas and offerings. I was impressed to see how this lady who has spent so many years in the West yet has managed to keep her culture and religion not only alive but have integrated in her daily life. Her work for and devotion to the Tibetan cause is well known. I had in fact heard about Penpa Dolma Andersen before I met her. After having known her for some time, I realized that I knew her family. She is from Lhatog Kerong Gonjotsang. Her family, in generations has been lamas and are very devoted dharma practitioners.
Penpa Dolma offered me a place to stay and said, "You are welcome to stay here and teach Dharma to me and others. My wish is to help others and you have all the capacity that is required” I then asked His Holiness Gyalwang Karmapa for a name for a dharma centre and His Holiness gave me the name “DHARMA GATE”.
